Johnny Clarke - Creation Rebel (17 North Parade/VP Records)

In recent decades several solid Johnny Clarke compilations have seen the light - there was 1991's 'Authorised Rockers' in Virgin's Front Line series, 1998's 'Dreader Dread' on Blood & Fire and 2002's 'A Ruffer Version - Johnny Clarke At King Tubby's 1974-78' on Trojan Records - but with 'Creation Rebel', 17 North Parade/VP Records now bundles 30 of the man's best tracks on two discs or LP's.

Rebelution - Free Rein (Easy Star Records)

Yours truly and Rebelution will probably never be a match… 'Falling Into Place', the 2016 predecessor to this album we already described as: "…love reggae for teens.", and for 'Free Rein', the Californian quartet has given itself complete "free rein" to experiment with genres like r&b, rock, jazz and even some Americana in 'Healing'.

Reemah - Breaking News (Self-published/Feel Line Records)

When presenting a new album, 'Breaking News' is of course far from a bad title. Even though If Dezarie can deservedly be regarded as the queen of the Virgin Island reggae, Reemah can definitely claim the title of crown princess.

Roots NoiR - Elevate (Self-published)

'Elevate' is the second long player by Canadian one-man project Brian Bataille aka Roots NoiR. Always more of an amateur of classic rock, Brian only discovered the reggae genre in 1990, thanks to a mix-tape full of Wailers songs from the band's Lee Perry period. Bataille was so inspired by what he heard, he promptly started writing himself.

Protoje - A Matter Of Time (Baco Records/In.Digg.Nation Collective/Overstand Entertainment)

For the successor to his highly successful 2015 'Ancient Future' album, Protoje once again joined forces with producer Phillip 'Winta' James, but anyone expecting a similar album will be sadly disappointed.
