Young Berliner Jon Moon (born Jon Nymoen) was born, as it were, for a musical career. Already at the tender age of five, Jon learned to play the piano, but a few years later switched to the drums. Meanwhile, Moon earned a degree in music production, and thanks to a long stay in South Africa developed a passion for reggae and Rastafari.

La Panika arose from the meeting of Belgian saxophonist Benito Blancquaert and Bulgarian gypsy accordionist Petar Elmazov. Add flamboyant trumpeter Jean-Pierre Lietar and you have the nucleus of this Macedonian-Bulgarian Franco-Belgian formation, also featuring Mitko Chakarov (trumpet), Gaspard Vanardois (guitar, oud), Mitko Kostov Jr. (clarinet), Cédric Gilmant (sousaphone, double bass, serpent), Christian Laisne (saxhorn), Hendrik Dobbelaere (saxhorn), Djemsid Zeynelov (tapan), and Seven Memedov (percussion).

Dirtmusic - Bu Bir Ruya (Glitterbeat Records)

For this new album Dirtmusic's Chris Eckman (together with Peter Weber the driving force behind Glitterbeat Records) and Hugo Race travelled to Istanbul where they joined forces with BaBa ZuLa front man Murat Ertel (and Turkish singer Gaye Su Akyol also makes an appearance in 'Love Is A Foreign Country'), exchanging the desert tents of their collaboration with Tamikrest for a garage converted into a studio.

Mahom - Skankin' Session #1 & #2 (Flower Coast Records)
