The African continent and reggae have been intertwined in an almost symbiotic relationship that has been going on since the birth of the genre and with the aptly titled 'Reggae Loves Africa' the VP label now devotes an entire compilation to the theme. The fact the track list of the album contains four songs that are simply titled 'Africa' (performed by Screwdriver, Freddie McGregor, Tony Rebel and Natural Black) should therefor come as no surprise. Where the classic 'Mama Africa' is concerned we prefer Peter Tosh's original version to the cover version by Buju Banton appearing here, but gems like Luciano's 'One Way Ticket' or Dennis Brown's 'Africa We Want To Go' are of course not to be sneezed at. This compilation is summarized perfectly in a quote by Jah9: "In the end we are all African!"
