Donovan Germain's Penthouse label celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, among other things with the release of 'Penthouse Records 25 Years: The Story Continues', a double compilation album containing just short of fifty tracks from the label's rich catalogue, handpicked by the master himself. Germain did not only opt for big Penthouse hits like Beres Hammond and Buju Banton's 'Who Say' or Jahmali's 'El Shaddai', but also gave lesser-known gems like Nigger Mikey's 'Ting Deh (aka Thing Deh)', back in 1988 the very first release on the label, the place they deserve. The compilation also contains two unreleased tracks by the late Garnet Silk: a remix of his classic 'Everything I Got' and 'My Favorite Song'. The icing on the birthday cake comes in the form of a bonus DVD containing a nearly two-hour documentary in which Germain narrates the entire history of the Penthouse label and for which virtually all of its protagonists (Marcia Griffiths, Beres Hammond, Wayne Wonder, Richie Stephens, Tony Rebel, Romain Virgo...) were interviewed. Many more years Mr Germain!
