17 North Parade/VP Records continues to plunder the archives of the late Joe Gibbs, but as long as that yields treasures like the 12-inch versions collected on this three-part series 'Joe Gibbs 12" Reggae Discomix Showcase Volume 1, 2 & 3', you won't hear us complain. All tracks on these three discs date back to the period 1979 - '82 and were recorded and mixed by Erroll Thompson and a battalion of legendary musicians (Sly & Robbie, Santa Davis, Leroy 'Horsemouth' Wallace, Lloyd Parks, George 'Fully' Fullwood, Bobby Ellis, Tommy McCook…)! With this series an average reggae deejay can get his hands on a collection that would set him back a firm sum would he want to buy it on vinyl. The 33 songs on these three discs are good for about four hours of listening pleasure and are divided proportionally between lovers rock (J.C. Lodge's 'More Than I Can Say' or Beverly Bailey's delicious 'I Was In Love' on the Satta riddim) and roots (George Nooks version of 'Tribal War' or Culture's 'Innocent Blood') each track followed by a killer deejay version.
