The fact brands like Adidas and Clarks are intertwined with reggae and dancehall, goes without saying. On that last brand All Fingers published his 2012 book 'Clarks In Jamaica' (One Love Books), now followed by this eponymous soundtrack on VP Records. The tracks on this compilation were all personally selected by Fingers, and are all tunes in which the brand name Clarks either already features in the title, or is named at least a few times in the lyrics of the song. The track list of course features the unforgettable 'Clarks Booty' by Little John and a slew of other tracks that you will surely recognize (Dillinger's 'CB 200', Eek-A-Mouse's 'Wa-Do-Dem', 'Trash & Ready' by SuperCat, Ranking Joe's 'Clarks Booty Style', Culture's 'She Wants Money'...), but also a host of less obvious ones ('Lean Boot' by Richie Davis, Laurel & Hardy's 'Dangerous Shoes' or 'Thru Me' by Daddy Dimes anyone?). The absence of Vybz Kartel's 'Clarks', the song that reignited the Jamaican Clarks-rage back in 2010, is a bit unfortunate, but 'Clarks In Jamaica' is a decent compilation none the less. Also don't forget to check the mini-documentary on YouTube in which Jah Stitch briefly talks about the history and importance of the Clarks Desert Boot in Jamaican society. Clarks, going strong in Jamaica since 1950 and it doesn't like that's going to change any time soon!
