Equaling the level of the legendary 'Heart Of The Congos' seems a near impossible task, but with 'Swinging Bridge' the recently reunited Congos (now all gentlemen of a respectable age) have produced their best album in years. 'Swinging Bridge' is a classic roots album and The Congos wouldn't be The Congos if the harmonies weren't irresistible again. Some of the more interesting tracks on 'Swinging Bridge' are 'National Heroes' (a rundown of the most important heroes from Jamaican and Rastafarian history on the well-known Rockford Rock riddim) and 'Hills & Valley' (a fantastic acoustic nyahbinghi song that gave yours truly goose bumps). The heart is still in The Congos!
