For 'Alone/Ténéré' Tuareg band Terakaft ("the caravan") joined forces with producer Justin Adams who infused their music with more of a rock vibe. The album title perfectly describes the solitude of the desert, but in this case also the state of mind of singer/guitarist Diara when observing the continuing deterioration of the political situation of the Tuareg, nicely reflected in songs like 'Oulhin Asnin (My Heart Suffers)' or closing track 'Anabayou (Sold)'. But of course it's not all doom and gloom on 'Alone/Ténéré', as the track list are just as well contains intensely groovy songs like opener 'Anabayou (Awkward)' or the catchy 'Karambani (Nastiness)'. Yet another excellent desert album!
