Pop from Papua New Guinea... What on earth to expect here? For once what you see is what you get: Western-style pop melodies with lyrics in Tolai and Tok Pidgin (a mixed language with influences from English). George Telek singlehandedly put his country on the musical map of the world and his previous album, 'Serious Tam', was released on Peter Gabriel's prestigious Real World label. That being said, yours truly weighed this album and found it to be a little light. There are moments ('Typist', 'Pidil') when Telek transcends the general level of the album, but the other songs are not more than easily digestible Melanesian singer-songwriter pop.
