One could consider 'Chatma' ("sisters"), Tamikrest's third long player to date, to be the band's first concept album. Since 'Chatma' is dedicated to the courageous women in the Tuareg community it is only logical that singer Wonou Walet Sidati takes a more leading role on this album. In addition Ousmane Ag Mossa's preference for reggae is again reflected in the track list ('Itous'); add to that influences from funk and psychedelic music ('Djanegh Etoumast') and the result is the most diverse album we've seen from these young Tuareg musicians thus far. Tamikrest ("crossing" in Tamasheq) do their name proud!
