In the category "oddity of the month" this Sunshiners album can definitely count. The Sunshiners hail from the distant Republic of Vanuatu (a small group of islands in the middle of the Pacific Ocean somewhere between Australia and America) and for their debut album they chose to give a number of pop classics from the 1980s a reggae treatment. That idea might sound far from original, but the sheer familiarity of the chosen tracks (Bowie, Supertramp, Rod Stewart and even The Cure) works tremendously infectious. Fresh pop-reggae for thirty-something's with nostalgia for the eighties!
