The Kananga System Krush label continues to map out the Malian music landscape, this time introducing us to Sibiri Samaké, a member of the caste of the donso or hunter-warriors. At first sight 'Dambe Foli' counts only four tracks, but in fact these are all medleys of several traditional songs. Among the donso's most important instruments are the donso n'goni or hunters harp and the karagnan or karinya, a ribbed metal pipe. 'Dambe Foli' was recorded in Ali Farka Toure's legendary Bogolan Studio with Kofi Olomide behind the mixing table. Great album for those who love authentic West-African music!
