It doesn't happen every day that yours truly is asked to write a review of an album containing two self-penned tracks ('Culture Shock', 'No Entry For Illegal Refugee'), but let's start at the beginning… Rootman J. aka John Bantou, front man of Zionyouth was at one time the lead vocalist of the now defunct band Ionyouth (still active as an impressive roots-dub sound system) for which yours truly was one of the songwriters. With some ex-members of Ionyouth, John formed his own band Zionyouth. These days, apart from Rootman J., not much remains from that original line-up. 'Destined Destination' can be counted among the better Belgian reggae productions of recent years, with the only false note being the fact Rootman J. is not always intelligible; but that's something he can work on. Top tracks: 'Dready' and 'Destined Destination'.
