In 2012 Randy Valentine (born in Clarendon, Jamaica, but these days based in London) enthused the reggae community with his 'Bring Back The Love' mixtape, and now he's finally presenting his official debut EP 'Break The Chain', once again produced by Swiss Hemp Higher Productions and London based J.O.A.T (Jack Of All Tradez). 'Break The Chain' sounds like the excellent calling card of a singer wanting to prove he can handle whatever you throw at him, resulting in the EP's track list being an anthology of genres ranging from new roots ('Sweet Reggae Music', 'Break The Chain') over lovers rock ('Lock Me Up'), dubstep ('Sound The Alarm' feat. LionHeart) and ska ('Gold Digger') to semi-acoustic singer-songwriter pop ('Nah Sell Out', a track with a nyahbinghi flavor, and 'Inna Di Ghetto'). Downloading the deluxe edition ('Break The Chain' is available in digital format only), apart from the nine tracks on the EP, also gets you the video clip of 'Sound Di Alarm'. For those interested: the artful sleeve design is the work of Kilian Amendola, a Swiss graphic designer.
