Orkesta Mendoza is the musical playground of Sergio Mendoza, a multi-instrumentalist and bandleader from Tucson, Arizona. Mendoza was born in Nogales, Arizona, but grew up in the city by the same name in Sonora, Mexico. Just like the frontera region he grew up in, Sergio's musical universe is also stretches out on both sides of the Mexican-American border, and on '¡Vamos A Guarachar!' apart from influences from typically Mexican genres like cumbia, mariachi and ranchero, you'll also hear Americana, rock ('Caramelos') and psychedelia. Mendoza often accompanies Calexico on and off stage, and on '¡Vamos A Guarachar!' Joey Burns and John Covertino return the favor. For the vocal parts Sergio could rely on the services of his regular vocalist Salvador Duran, but additionally the voices of Camilo Lara (Mexican Institute of Sound), Gabriel Sullivan (XIXA), Jairo Zavala (DePedro) , Ceci Bastida and Quetzal Guerrero can also be heard. In any case '¡Vamos A Guarachar!' really lives up to its title!
