Omar Perry's 'New Dawn' may be barely six months old, but with 'Living In The Jungle' he's already providing us with a successor! For this release, available as a double 12inch or digital download, and counting 5 vocal cuts and as many dubs more an EP rather than a full-fledged album, Perry joined forces with UK based Roots Renegade Records of producer Vinny 'Satta' Ellis (with the exception of 'Liberation', which was produced by the Alfriston, East Sussex based Finn MacAirt aka King Bracket). Daniel Boyle, who seems to be almost omnipresent these days, was in charge of the album's final mix. On 'Living In The Jungle' we get to hear a more subdued Omar Perry doing his thing over rather slow-paced dubby UK productions. UK stepper 'The Hunter' wasn't really to our taste, but meditative opener 'Why Do We Cry', 'Stay Focus', a combination tune with the Australian grime, hip-hop and nu-soul queen Vida Sunshyne, and finally the aforementioned 'Liberation' by producer King Bracket, could all convince, and Roots Renegade's five dub versions are the extra icing on the cake. Omar Perry goes dub steppers!
