Even though the earliest incarnation of Mystic Revealers dates back to the 1970s, they only really had their breakthrough in the 1990s. Throughout the years the core of the band, Billy 'Mystic' Wilmot (vocals), Nicholas 'Drummie' Henry (drums), Leroy 'Lion' Edwards (bass) and Steve Davis (vocals), has remained unchanged. Around the turn of the century front man Billy 'Mystic' Wilmot decided to take a sabbatical to devote himself to his other great passion: surfing (nicely illustrated on the cover of 'Crucial Cuts'). Wilmot founded the Jamaican Surf Association and Maka Pro tournament and both Billy's son Icah and his daughter Imani are professional surfers. Without Mystic Revealers there also wouldn't have been a Protoje or Jah9, as both artists debuted in Billy's Jamnesia surf club Jamnesia. Now, some 15 years later, the band is ready to hit the road again and to introduce a whole new generation to their music there's now 'Crucial Cuts', a collection of the Mystic Revealers' greatest hits ('Rasta Man', 'Judgement Day', 'Justice'...).
