We were first introduced to the vocal capabilities of Paris-based Marina P thanks to her collaboration with French producer KSD for his 2018 'Bite The Dust' EP. Her biggest hit, however, remains 'Divorce À L'italienne', her first collaboration with the Scots of Mungo's Hi Fi, dating back to 2007. That first collaboration quickly grew into a fruitful working relationship, both on stage and in the studio, which has lasted for over ten years, and is now celebrated with the release of this 'Soul Radio' album. In the track list, an intriguing mix of ska, rocksteady, soul, hip-hop, triphop and jazz influences, with the more danceable tracks on the A-side of the LP, reserving the B-side for some more profound tracks. Of course, 'Divorce À L'italienne' is featured in the track list, but other definite recommendations are certainly the rocksteady of opener 'Soma', 'Troubles And Worries', and especially 'The Beat Goes SKA', a ska version of Sonny & Cher's 'The Beat Goes On', featuring deejay veteran Dennis Alcapone and Tippa Irie! Extremely enjoyable album proving Mungo's Hi Fi and Marina P have found the perfect musical partners in each other!
