His debut album 'Set The Standard' is London singjay Mr. Williamz' salute to the early days of dancehall and that both visually (the album cover) and musically. The album was produced by Necessary Mayhem's Curtis Lynch and is essentially a collection of the singles Mr. Williamz recorded for the label supplemented with some new tracks. With no less than five ganja tunes Williamz immediately sets the tone and 'London' is a fantastic tribute to the British capital, but above all else 'Set The Standard' is a feast for riddim riders: both for 'Tommy Ranks' as for the crazy jungle remix 'It Haffi Bun' Williamz tackles the Full Up riddim, 'Real General' is a track over the Come Down Riddim (actually no more than an update of the classic African Beat riddim), 'No Cigarette' recycles Joker Smoker and if you pay attention, you will recognize the I Need You riddim, known from Cocoa Tea's 'Come Again', in 'Shell Down'. Lyrically we were most drawn to title track 'Set The Standard' in which Mr. Williamz criticizes the cheap production methods and voice gimmicks that seem to rule supreme in todays in reggae and dancehall. Top production!
