For the successor of her 2008 'Dire Dawa' album, Minyeshu decided to change her tack, resulting in an album that sounds a lot more "electronic" and groovier. At least partly responsible for that new sound are Zuco 103's Stefan Kruger and Stefan Schmidt. Opener 'Zare' ("today") immediately sets the tone for the rest of this varied album (title track 'Jopia/Black Ink' is a cheerful sing-along inducing Afro-pop tune, for 'Metche' Minyeshu goes reggae and 'Yilemedal' is Ethiopian r&b). With 'Black Ink', Minyeshu delivers a modern Ethiopian album without losing sight of her roots. Recommended listening!
