With Maguaré we finally have our very own Belgian cumbia band. For the production of 'Cumbia Insomnia' the Ghent based band around Colombian singer Paola Marquez called on craftsmen like Mario Galeano (Frente Cumbiero, Ondatropica), Eblis Alvarez (Meridian Brothers) and Frankie Francis (Sofrito), guaranteeing a solid cumbia album. With titles like 'La Luxemburguesa' or 'Cumbia De Blankenberge' Maguaré makes clear it's a Belgian band and the cover of Soeur Sourire's 'Dominique' (in the 1970s also a hit for Colombian legend Anibal Velasquez) is also a nice wink at Belgian music history, but 'Cumbia Insomnia' also counts a number of Colombian classics ('Mi Cumbia', 'Ritmo De Juventud' and 'Lupita').
