Just in time for women's day 2017 we can present Les Amazones d'Afrique, Africa's first all-female super group! The lineup Real World Records managed to put together looks impressive to say the least: Angélique Kidjo, Rokia Koné, Mamani Keita, Nneka, Massan Coulibaly, Kandia Kouyaté, Madiaré Dramé, Madina N'Diaye, Mariam Doumbia and Inna Modja, can all be heard on 'République Amazone'. The whole project was actually set up to draw attention to the global problem of gender inequality, a message that may be best summarized in 'La Dame Et Ses Valises', a song in which Nneka asks: "Woman don't you know you're a queen?". But 'République Amazone' is more than just message music, as with part of the proceeds of the album the ladies also actively support the Panzi Foundation, a hospital in Bukavu (Eastern Congo), where Doctor Mukwege has already managed to offer over 80000 women, many of whom victims of brutal sexual violence, a second chance. These amazons are ready to conquer the world!
