It had been since 2006's 'Genuine Love' that we'd heard anything of Leroy Brown. After living in Canada for years, Leroy apparently relocated to Jamaica again where, with the help of Sly & Robbie, he recorded '70's Reggae Style', an album whose title covers the load perfectly. In classic showcase style '70's Reggae Style' contains seven vocal tracks and six dubs/instrumentals, no earth-shaking songs, but all authentic-sounding roots tracks in a style that recalls the glory days of roots reggae in the 1970s. That vintage sound you can only get on vinyl, so there's sadly no CD version of '70's Reggae Style' (the only downside to this release).
