'Jaam Dong' ("only peace", but of course also a reference to "Jamdown" or Jamaica) is Senegalese rapper/singjay Lëk Sèn's third long player in just over a year's time, but if you think that means he's opted for quantity rather than quality, you would be sadly mistaking. 'Jaam Dong' is Sèn's ' most reggae flavored album to date and even though we also enjoyed his previous work, with this album he really hits home. The icing on the cake are contributions by guest vocalists like Julia Sarr (Senegalese mezzo-soprano and much sought-after backing vocalist who in the past already worked with artists like Youssou N'Dour and Lokua Kanza), Méta Dia (known from Meta and The Cornerstones, assisting Lëk Sèn here on 'Aluleen') and the young French reggae lion Lexon ('Ring Di Alarm'). Excellent African reggae album!
