Koby Israelite may already have three albums to his credit (all of which appeared on John Zorn's Tzadik label), for yours truly 'Blues From Elsewhere' was the first acquaintance with this London-based Israeli multi-instrumentalist. Israelite effortlessly manages to blend a wide range of genres, ranging from klezmer flowing into delta-blues ('Crayfish Hora') over Andrew Sisters-like boogie woogie in Balkan style ('Why Don't You Take My Brain And Sell It To The Night?') to a Rage Against The Machine-like punk meets klezmer version of Bob Dylan's 'Subterranean Homesick Blues'. Intriguing album!
