It had already been since 2015 that we'd last heard from Jurgen Orville Seedorf aka Joggo, but with this 'Love Ova War' EP, the Dutchman proves he hasn't lost any of his feathers yet. On the contrary, in the 9 song track list, for which he collaborated with Austrian House of Riddim, French The Handcart Market and Tuff Gong Jamaica/BornRolling Productions, Joggo trods an almost flawless path. The three combination tunes in the track list especially drew our attention. For opener 'Burning & Looting', which has nothing to do with the eponymous song by Bob Marley & The Wailers, Joggo invited his buddy Rapha Pico, and it has to be said, their voices seem to be made for one another; a first highlight from this EP! Somewhat more spiritual in tone is 'Better Must Come', a duet with the Dutch-Kenian singer Black Omolo, and for closing and title track 'Love Ova War', in which the duo expresses their shared love for soccer, Joggo joined forces with Jamaican veteran Lutan Fyah. Even though the track list of 'Love Ova War' mainly consists of conscious songs, Joggo makes an exception with 'Trod With Me', an excellent love tune. Other highly recommended tracks are the revolutionary anthem 'Stand Up!' and the infectious 'Fyah & Rain' over House Of Riddim's Write Down My Name riddim. Excellent EP by an undervalued but clearly talented artist!
