Jim the Boss is the man behind the Hoboken Hi-Fi studio; no reference to the district in Antwerp, but to the city in New Jersey on the banks of the Hudson, which immediately brings us to the title of this album: 'Hudson Soul'. On 'Hudson Soul' you'll mostly find delicious dubs with a vintage touch, but for the sparse vocals Jim called on True Persuaders vocalist Ptah Kruud, fellow New Jersians Kiwi ('Spectro/Chrome' is a dub version of their 'Cure'), and Jah Adam, fresh talent from California. We truly enjoyed Jim's dub vibes, but if that should still not entice you to purchase this album, please know that the entire proceeds of 'Hudson Soul' will go to the family of Dan Klein (the front man of Daptone Records band The Frightnrs, who suddenly passed away in June of this year after having being diagnosed with ALS).
