An initiative like this ten-man strong Jamaican Jazz Orchestra, drawing inspiration from artists like Ernest Ranglin, Monty Alexander, Bob Marley, The Skatalites and Jackie Mittoo, only has a chance of success if it counts a set of sound musicians in its ranks, and judging by the tracks on their self-titled debut EP that is certainly the case here. Key figure is guitarist and songwriter Wouter Rosseel, but multitalented verbalist Saimn-I also makes an appearance ('Face Reality', 'G13', 'Let The Good Times Roll'). Jamaican Jazz Orchestra serves the kind of orchestral jazzy ska, rocksteady and reggae (and in the case of 'Afro Steppers' even some influences from afrobeat) on which one can drift away for hours. For the time being, however, we'll have to content ourselves with the six tracks on this EP, but they are freely downloadable on the band's SoundCloud page, so no winging and just enjoy!
