Until further notice Midnite remains the most important exponent of so-called Virgin Island roots, but Iba is definitely catching up! Iba's greatest asset is the fact his music is more accessible than Midnite's. For 'Matsahyel' (a Hebrew name Iba was given during a visit to Israel, meaning "he who has found God"), Iba again collaborated with his buddy Tuff Lion and the album was recorded in his Outpost Music Workshop in Hampton, Virginia. 'Matsahyel' is Virgin Island roots as yours truly likes it best: spiritual, deep and sometimes lethargically slow. Without a doubt one of the better roots releases of 2010!
