Yours truly got to know the graceful Flavia Coelho somewhat by accident thanks to a guest appearance she made on Tom Fire's debut album 'The Revenge'. Her voice made us hungry for more and after some digging on the internet we stumbled on 'Bossa Muffin', an album for which she invented a new hybrid genre of music, blending the rhythms of reggae and dancehall with the samba and bossa nova from her homeland Brazil. Vocally Flavia reminded us of Zuco 103's Lilian Vieira, but that might just be because of her use of the Portuguese language. 'Bossa Muffin' is a more than enjoyable debut album and Flavia Coelho is our hot world music tip for 2012.
