New Yorker Dr. Joe Ferry is an author and musician, in the past already making a name for himself playing bass for, among others, Dr. John, Huey Lewis & The News and Delbert McClinton. Ferry recently released his first novel 'Connected: Mob Stories From My Past' and 'Connected: Mob Stories & Reggae Riddims' should be considered the accompanying soundtrack. The album is a mix of Jamaican classics like 'Perfidia' (originally a 1939 composition by Mexican composer Alberto Dominguez, but in Jamaica made popular by Phyllis Dillon and here in a dub mix by King Tubby), '555 Crown Street' (Augustus Pablo) and Rita Marley's 'One Draw', but also new songs like 'Bango' (an African reggae track featuring Angolan singer Alberto 'Pitshu' Matondo) or 'Don Go Bang' (with the flamboyant Bermudan eccentric Uzimon on vocals) and ska and dub work of Ferry's own signature in the company of The Big Ska Band.
