MJH Musik, the Jamaican label that got us to discover Jah Lewis a while ago, this time presents us with DaMeek’s debut album 'Mi Energy'. On 'Mi Energy' DaMeek, whose voice oddly enough reminded yours truly of Queen Ifrica's now and again, jumps back and forth between new roots ('War In The Street', 'Push Out') and dancehall ('Youthman', 'Ochi'). Not all riddims on 'Mi Energy' are equally convincing ('Never Let Them See You Cry'), but DaMeek's vocal qualities keep the album afloat. Slightly too average to linger.
