Chronixx' debut EP has to be just about the most anticipated reggae release of 2014. High expectations, but fortunately Chronixx does not disappoint. The fact 'The Dread And Terrible Project' EP (seven vocal tracks and three dubs) musically is highly reminiscent of the releases by Kabaka Pyramid and Protoje, should come as no surprise: the riddim used for 'Alpha And Omega' we still recognized from Protoje's 'I & I' (originally Earth & Stone's 'Devil Must Of Made You') and for 'Here Comes Trouble' like Protoje, Chronixx looked to Ini Kamoze and Sly & Robbie for inspiration (the track is based on Kamoze's 'Wings With Me'). The only song on this EP that needs a word of explanation is 'Spirulina'. Spirulina, Wikipedia teaches us, is: "Spirulina is a cyanobacteria that can be consumed by humans as a dietary supplement as well as a whole food; and is available in tablet, flake and powder form." and the song is intended as promotion for a healthy lifestyle and is a tribute to "veteran juice man" Viva, who taught Chronixx about the product. The EP ends with three dub tracks ('Alpha And Omega Dub', 'Here Comes Trouble Dub' and 'Capture Country Dub') sounding that are at least as good as their vocal counterparts. 'The Dread And Terrible Project' EP is downloadable for free on www.chronixxmusic.com, but those wanting to purchase a physical copy, can do so at one of the concerts of Chronixx' European tour.
