Remember the time you could still count on a Friday night Brazilian party at the Sfinks festival? It was there that yours truly got acquainted with the sound of Carlinhos Brown, then still an innovator of Brazilian music and the inventor of samba reggae. Unfortunately 'Mixturada Brasileira' offers only a pale reflection of what Carlinhos once stood for; the album is a succession of flat pop tunes of a dime a dozen with only Brown's Portuguese lyrics making it sound like a Brazilian record. Forget as soon as possible!
