The American reggae scene is still in full expansion, making it ever harder to keep up with new bands sprouting up all over the place. Burnt is a San-Francisco based trio, but the band was founded in Indio, a small town in Coachella Valley (best known as the location for the annual Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival), around the turn of the century. Both the band's lineup and musical approach have undergone changes over the years and these days Burnt describe themselves as a band playing a mix of reggae, ska, punk and hip-hop. Thanks to their collaboration with English producer and multi-instrumentalist Nathan McCoy aka Rivel and the frequent use of the melodica, the reggae tracks on 'Headlamp' received a UK vibe though. Add to that a few more hip-hop influences tracks (hip-hop lovers should definitely check out the great ode to marijuana 'Leaflife') and you end up with a sound we couldn't immediately compare with another band. Original album by an American reggae band with a distinct identity.
