For the first time since 1998's 'Living Dangerously', Barrington Levy took to the studio again for the recording of a new album. Fans who were hoping for new material, will be disappointed, because as the title suggests, for 'Acousticalevy' the 'Mellow Canary' opted for acoustic reinterpretations of his greatest hits ('Vice Versa Love' and 'Vibes Is Right' aren't even new version but were just plucked from the track lists of Barrington's 'Barrington' and 'Here I Come' albums). For technical support Levy relied on the help of producer Handel Tucker whom he already knew from collaborating on the 'Barrington' album (MCA, 1993). 'Acousticalevy' is not the big new album Barrington Levy had been announcing for years, but fans will certainly enjoy these unique stripped versions of classics like 'Murderer', 'Under Mi Sensi' and 'Prison Oval Rock', making the voice of the 'Mellow Canary' stand out even more than usually.
