For 'Give', Balkan Beat Box went back-to-basics. The trio retreated to the Vibromonk studio in Tel Aviv where they worked exclusively with analogue equipment. The resulting album sounds a lot darker and rougher than predecessor 'Blue Eyed Black Boy' (not mentioning an exception like 'Urge To Be Violent'); more "Beat Box" then "Balkan" and that's something yours truly would gladly have seen reversed. 'Give' is not quite our cup of tea, but live Balkan Beat Box live still guarantees a steaming party!
