Singer/guitarist Anansy Cissé was one of the many musicians from the North of Mali who, during the occupation by the fundamentalist militias of Ansar Dine, were forced to stop/halt their activities. Cissé chose to play for safety and relocated to the capital, Bamako. Anansy's guitar style is heavily influenced by Western rock bands like The Rolling Stones or Led Zeppelin and combined with the howling soku (one snared fiddle) of veteran musician Zoumana Tereta and the ngoni of Djimé Sissoko, that results in an album with a sound we would like to summarize as Lobi Traore meets JuJu. Absolute discovery!
