With musicians from Antigua, Dominica and Jamaica in its ranks, American 418 Band is an almost perfect embodiment of the Caribbean, something which is also reflected in the repertoire of the band, a mix of soca, reggae, dancehall, cadence and zouk. That same Caribbean party recipe you can also find on their debut effort 'Midnight Caller'. The Dennis Brown cover 'Should I', suffering from poor vocals and instrumentation, is the only real miss in the track list, but festive tunes like 'Henrietta' or 'Plane Ticket' make you forget about that mishap in a heartbeat. For the time being this party band from Jacksonville, Florida hasn't crossed the Atlantic yet, but as far as we're concerned they wouldn't be out of place at festivals like Antilliaanse Feesten, Afro-Latino or Afro C.
