Orleans born Papa Style (real name Johann Leinenweber) began his career with Christophe Peyroux as the duo Papa Style & Baldas, butwith 'Turbulent' is now going at it on his own. Style appears to specialize in energetic fragga, vocally alternating between English and Spanish. Riddim-lovers will recognize a revamp of the Darker Shade Of Black riddim in 'Solide'. And it doesn't end there, as behind 'Ce Que L'Argent', a song about the omnipotence of big business, hides the Dennis Brown classic 'Easy Take It Easy', and in 'Hors Contrôle' Style does the same thing with Justin Hinds & The Dominoes' 'Carry Go Bring Come'. Some Brazilian exoticism, Papa Style provided by inviting the graceful Flavia Coelho for 'Esperança'. Another guest pops up in 'Police', as Papa Style invited none other than King Kong for the song that seems somewhat of a revisiting of his 'Serious We Serious' over the Sleng Teng riddim. With 'Venus D'Ailleurs', a song over a delicious digital riddim in which Johann asks his son (?) whether there are many foreigners at his school and the little one replies: "No, only children!", Style delivers a moral uppercut. We duly enjoyed 'Turbulent' and are sure you'll do the same!
